Chapter 5 · Play
Play Solo
Your own Vanilla realm on your PC, offline, with bots that group, quest and roam.
What it is #
Play Solo runs a complete Vanilla realm on your own PC: the SPP Classics server with playerbots, computer-controlled characters who join your group for dungeons and group quests and roam the world. It listens only on your own PC and works offline once it's set up.
| Good to know | |
|---|---|
| Needs | Windows 10/11 64-bit, your own Vanilla Client v1.3 (English, build 5875), a few GB of disk (SSD helps), 8 GB+ RAM recommended |
| Internet | Only for the first download and updates |
| Characters | Stay on your PC: they can't move to or from online realms |
| Players | None: no trading, guilds or chat with people |
| Vanilla Remastered | The client-side Vanilla Remastered addons work; the official realm's server changes (AoE loot and more) aren't there |
Set it up #
- In the launcher, switch Home to SOLO and press PLAY.
- It downloads the solo server (about 110 MB, then about 700 MB of server files). Both resume if interrupted.
- The server's setup window opens once: type 1, wait for the Vanilla menu, then type 0.
- PLAY turns ready by itself: READY · SOLO ON THIS PC.
Already have SPP Classics? Choose I have SPP Classics… and point the launcher at it.
Play #
Press PLAY in Solo mode. The launcher starts the database, login and world servers hidden in the background and logs you in as SOLO / SOLO. Closing the game saves the world and stops the servers.
Bots #
Playerbots fill the world and will group with you. Ask them to follow, attack or assist in party chat, or let Herald play your own character (/herald, see In-game features): Play Solo has Herald's self-bot switched on.
Change your solo realm #
It's your realm: you can change XP rates, add NPCs and give yourself GM powers. The config lives under Realms\Solo\...\mangosd.conf. The easiest way is to ask an AI agent with the starter prompts in Connect an AI, or by hand in Edit your own game. Back up first.
